Mashups are cool but they are even better when you create a new genre from doing them. Back in 2011 when EDM was starting to taking over in the clubs & on the radio, Kontrol began taking the vocals from popular dance & pop songs and mashing them with slower trap beats from Atlanta Hip-Hop artists. At the time nothing sounded like them. They gave a fresh new take on these songs that allowed music lovers to hear their favorite artists over trap beats. Fast forward to 2017 and it is hard to find an artist who hasn't tried singing over a trap track. Kontrol helped pioneer this sound into ears of the masses.
